Meet Rubi Cali Ortiz

I believe that meaningful change begins with understanding and making sense of one’s experiences. In my work, I support clients in exploring patterns in their thoughts, emotions, and relationships, while strengthening their capacity to navigate difficult experiences with greater clarity and awareness.

Professional Background

Rubi Cali Ortiz, LSW, is a bilingual (English/Spanish) trauma-informed therapist based in Chicago. She holds a Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and brings over five years of clinical experience in community mental health, correctional settings, and community-based organizations.

She works with adolescents, young adults, adults, and older adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, and complex family dynamics, including parental estrangement. She also has experience supporting individuals involved in the justice system and those re-entering the community.

Rubi has experience in crisis intervention and supporting clients through emotional distress, using a trauma-informed, stabilization-focused approach that emphasizes safety, grounding, and steady support during difficult moments.

I have particular interest and experience in supporting individuals navigating:

Specialties
  • Trauma and post-traumatic stress

  • Anxiety, depression, and emotional distress

  • Grief, loss, and life transitions

  • Family dynamics, parental estrangement and relational rupture

  • Substance use concerns and co-occurring mental health challenges

  • Emotional crisis and stabilization needs

  • Justice involvement and reentry transitions

I primarily work with adolescents, adults, and older adults to understand patterns in their experiences, strengthen emotional insight, and support meaningful and sustainable change.

My Approach

I provide trauma-informed, integrative therapy that is supportive, collaborative, and grounded. In sessions, I help clients recognize patterns in their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behaviors, while supporting them in processing difficult experiences and strengthening their capacity to navigate them.

My work bridges present-focused coping with deeper exploration of lived experiences, helping clients understand how past experiences, attachment patterns, and relational dynamics shape how they see themselves and respond to life.

I also incorporate grounding, reflective work, and structured processing to support emotional regulation, deeper self-understanding, and internal stability.

I bring an active and engaged presence to therapy, balancing emotional processing with practical support that helps clients move from insight into meaningful change.

About Me

Outside of my clinical work, I value slowing down and staying connected to the things that bring balance and meaning into my life. I enjoy spending time with my partner, family and friends, being outdoors and creating space for rest and reflection. My dog also brings a lot of joy into my life and serves as a steady reminder to slow down, stay present, and appreciate the simple, everyday moments.

I also value practices that help me stay grounded and connected to meaning in my own life, which supports how I show up in my work with clients. I believe therapy is deeply human work, and I bring that same sense of presence and authenticity into each session.

Note: Every session is held in strict confidentiality, providing a safe and entirely judgment-free environment for your healing.
