Meet Aylin Sanjuampa

Therapy doesn’t have to feel rigid or overwhelming. It can be a space where you show up as you are, without pressure to have everything figured out, and begin to make sense of what you’ve been carrying. While we may work through difficult experiences, I also value creating moments of ease, connection, and lightness along the way.

Professional Background

I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Social Worker (LSW) and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor with a Master of Social Work from the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice.

My background includes work in substance use treatment, sexual violence prevention, and domestic violence advocacy. I’ve provided individual and group counseling, developed treatment plans, and supported clients through case management and care coordination.

I’ve worked with individuals navigating trauma, crisis, and major life transitions, helping them feel more steady, supported, and connected to themselves.

I have particular interest and experience in supporting individuals navigating:

Specialties
  • Substance use and harm reduction

  • Trauma and interpersonal violence

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Life transitions and identity exploration

  • Relationship and family challenges

I primarily work with adolescents and adults.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is collaborative, holistic, and grounded in harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness. I focus on helping you better understand your experiences while building tools that feel useful, realistic, and sustainable in daily life.

I see mental health as deeply connected to the body, environment, and everyday experience. Therapy is tailored to each person and may include mindfulness, body awareness, reflection, and exploring how movement, rest, nature, and daily routines support well-being.

When meaningful, I also hold space for exploring spirituality. Whether through values, sense of purpose, cultural or spiritual beliefs, or what helps you feel grounded and aligned.

My goal is to create a space that feels supportive, intentional, and empowering where you can build insight, reconnect with yourself, and show up as you are.

About Me

Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy staying active, spending time with family and friends, and being outdoors. I have a goldendoodle who brings a lot of energy and joy into my daily life. I also enjoy comedy and appreciate how humor can help us feel more connected and grounded.

I’m originally from Mexico City and am bilingual in Spanish and English. I value creating an inclusive space where people from diverse backgrounds feel seen, heard, and respected.

Note: Every session is held in strict confidentiality, providing a safe and entirely judgment-free environment for your healing.
