Meet Kira Charles
Humor is also something I value in everyday life. While therapy can involve difficult topics, I believe moments of lightness and laughter can be an equally important part of the healing process and help make the space feel more human and approachable.
Professional Background
I have experience in neuropsychological assessment and clinical support for individuals across the lifespan, with a background in both research and direct clinical service. My training has taken place in hospital, private practice, and academic settings, where I have worked with clients navigating a wide range of cognitive, emotional, and neurological concerns.
I am currently a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at Adler University with emphases in neuropsychology and Adlerian therapy. I am also pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Psychopharmacology. In addition to my clinical work, I am involved in research and advocacy focused on culturally responsive assessment and community based approaches to mental health.
At this practice, I provide psychotherapy under the supervision of Lina Costelloe, MA, a licensed clinical social worker.
Specialties
I have particular interest and experience in supporting individuals navigating:
• Neurodivergence, including autism and ADHD
• Functional neurological disorder and other neurological conditions
• Trauma and stress related concerns
• Identity exploration and life transitions
• Culturally responsive and strengths based assessment
I work with adolescents and adults and tailor treatment to each person’s goals, strengths, and lived experiences.
My Approach
My approach to therapy is collaborative and integrative. My work is informed by Adlerian therapy, cognitive behavioral approaches, and principles from neuropsychology. I am especially interested in how thoughts, emotions, and brain based processes interact with social and cultural contexts.
In our sessions, I focus on helping you build insight into patterns that may be affecting your wellbeing while also developing practical strategies that support everyday life. I believe therapy should provide both space for reflection and tools that help you move toward meaningful change.
About Me
Outside of my clinical work, I spend a lot of my time with my animals, who keep life interesting and entertaining in the best ways.
I am also a big fan of video games. I enjoy the creativity, storytelling, and problem solving they offer, and I appreciate how games can bring people together through shared experiences and humor. Whether it is exploring a new game world or replaying a favorite story driven game, it is one of the ways I relax and recharge.
Note: Every session is held in strict confidentiality, providing a safe and entirely judgment-free environment for your healing.
